PEORIA, Ill. – State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, D-Peoria, will welcome Gov. J.B. Pritzker to Peoria Tuesday to sign House Bill 4736, which will create the Co-Responder Pilot Program and enable the Peoria Police Department to create a unit focused on behavioral health and coordinating social services with violence survivors – including trauma-informed crisis intervention, assistance with finding safe housing, victim advocacy and counseling.

“The Co-Responder Pilot Program is the result of collaboration with local law enforcement, area officials, local organizations and others who are putting in the work to make our community safer,” Gordon-Booth said. “I’m excited to see Governor Pritzker sign this needed piece of legislation that is going to help a lot of families within our community.”

Gordon-Booth’s House Bill 4736 also encourages and assists violence witnesses to come forward, offering financial help to assist with relocation and temporary living costs if needed. For more information, please contact RepJGordon@gmail.com.
