BELLEVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea, is encouraging local gun owners to check out the Illinois State Police’s (ISP) newly opened Metro East Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Kiosk designed to help Illinois residents apply for and update their FOID and Concealed Carry License (CCL) with one-on-one assistance.

“For many residents, it’s easier to walk through an application process and have their questions answered one-on-one,” Hoffman said. “I appreciate that ISP has opened a kiosk location here in the Metro East, and for their continued work to bring down FOID card processing times under 30 days.”

The Metro East kiosk is located at ISP District 11 at 1100 Eastport Plaza in Collinsville. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Offered services include:

  • Assistance with submitting name and address changes, renewals and new applications online,
  • Taking a photo and uploading it to the application,
  • Assistance with correcting rejected applications, and
  • A publicly accessible computer available to complete online applications and make updates to existing accounts.

Due to the extended time it may take for a kiosk representative to assist individuals with submitting an application, residents may be asked to return at a different time. The new location joins already opened ISP kiosks in Du Quoin, Lockport and Springfield.

“I’ve heard positive things about how these locations were able to quickly and conveniently help people,” Hoffman said. “Particularly for those who don’t love dealing with technology, try to take advantage of this.”
