ROCKFORD, Ill. – As part of his efforts to support local small businesses, state Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, is highlighting Small Business Saturday this Saturday, Nov. 27.
“Over the past year, I have been able to meet with many small business owners across the Rockford area and have seen first-hand how much they contribute to our community,” said Vella. “I highly encourage residents to use this Small Business Saturday to shop at one of our local businesses and help show them our appreciation for all that they do.”
Small Business Saturday, which takes place annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, is an initiative by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to support and give back to small businesses. Recognizing Small Business Saturday is just one way that Vella is working to support small businesses in his district. He worked to create Back to Business Grants for small businesses who were hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. Vella also helped pass legislation providing tax cuts to many businesses by allowing them to avoid the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap.
“With so many businesses struggling to stay afloat after having to endure a very difficult past year and a half, we must all come together and work to provide them with as much support as possible,” said Vella. “Going forward, I will continue to work with local business leaders around the district to work to address their needs and help them continue to serve our community.”
