WEST CHICAGO, Ill. –To recognize the first Habitat home in Batavia, State Rep. Maura Hirschauer, D-Batavia, is inviting the public to attend the home’s dedication ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 20.
“This home is an exciting collaboration between many community partners and marks the beginning of helping people obtain secure housing,” Hirschauer said. “This is a special opportunity to honor the work that Habitat does while also celebrating the contributions of community members to make this project successful.”
Hirschauer is cohosting the ceremony along with Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, Steven and David McCormick of First Centennial Mortgage, the Batavia Chamber President and CEO Margaret Perreault, Cynthia Cannella from Orange Home Services and Lisa Farley of Accurate Door. First Centennial Mortgage donated $175,000 to fund the building of the home, which will house a family from Kenya. Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity provides financial support, volunteers, and advocacy for affordable housing to help families build better lives for themselves.
“Through the generosity of community partners and advocacy for affordable housing, this project will hopefully be one of many to aid those in our community,” Hirschauer said. “I look forward to celebrating this first-ever Habitat home in Batavia and hope to celebrate the addition of more in the future.”
