AURORA, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is partnering with state Sen. Linda Holmes, D-Aurora, and state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, for a Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on Monday, Nov. 15 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Eola Community Center, located at 555 S. Eola Rd. in Aurora.
“The protection offered by the flu shot is more important than ever as COVID-19 transmission rates continue to increase and hospitals remain overrun with patients,” said Hernandez. “In addition to receiving an annual flu shot, vaccines are the most effective way to protect against COVID-19 and we can all help stop the spread of COVID-19, the flu and other illnesses by following mask guidelines, washing our hands frequently and staying home if sick when possible.”
Individuals age 4 and up are eligible to receive the Flu vaccine at Hernandez’s event. Individuals interested in receiving their COVID-19 vaccine have the following options:
- Moderna – Age 18 and up
- Pfizer – Age 5 and up
- Second dose appointment scheduled at the time of the first dose
- Third dose for the immunocompromised
- Booster Shot – Age 18 and up
Ages 4 through 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and no appointment is needed for this event. For eligibility guidelines for both vaccinations, visit vnahealth.com/covid-vaccine.
“I encourage everyone to receive their COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot to keep yourself and our community healthy as we approach this flu season,” said Hernandez. “I am pleased to be working with VNA Healthcare to provide this vaccine clinic and work to make our community safe again.”
