OTTAWA, Ill. – To ensure residents have adequate access to health coverage options, state Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, is reminding residents of the open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance marketplace, which lasts from Nov. 1 until Jan. 15.
“The significance of health insurance has been amplified by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to be covered has grown increasingly important,” said Yednock. “Being prepared for unforeseen circumstances can make a world of difference as health emergencies are rarely predictable.”
Yednock is encouraging all residents to make sure that they have health insurance coverage for the upcoming year by enrolling in a plan during the open enrollment period. Typically, the open enrollment runs from Nov. 1 until Dec. 15 but it was extended to Jan. 15 because of the ongoing COVID-9 pandemic. “The ACA marketplace provides affordable options for those without health insurance to get covered and provides a good opportunity for those with insurance to make sure their coverage is right for them,” continued Yednock. “I urge residents who are without health insurance or believe they may be underinsured to check out available options through the ACA marketplace. Taking advantage of the open enrollment period can save you from medical-bill-related financial hardship in the future and can ensure you are prepared in case of an emergency.”
