BOLINGBROOK, Ill. – State Rep. Dagmara “Dee” Avelar, D-Bolingbrook, is reminding residents of the upcoming National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 23rd.
“According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers,” said Avelar. “Take back day provides a time for residents to get rid of unneeded prescriptions and raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.”
October 23rd is recognized nationally as Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The day is a time to bring awareness to drug abuse and an opportunity to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. Drop-off locations will be available throughout the state and nation, Bolingbrook Police Department will have a drop-off box available in their lobby located at 375 W. Briarcliff Rd., Bolingbrook. “With more people dying from drug overdoses than ever before, now is a time to make sure we are doing everything possible to protect ourselves and our families,” continued Avelar. “Whether it’s on Take Back Day or any other day, make sure to bring back any unused prescriptions and keep our communities safe!
