AURORA, Ill. – To help celebrate the diverse contributions the Hispanic community makes to Illinois, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is speaking at a Hispanic Heritage Month virtual panel held by the Gateway foundation on Monday, October 11, at 12 p.m.

“I am excited to join such an accomplished group of people to help celebrate the varied and vibrant contributions Hispanic Americans have made to our state and, more importantly, to consider the issues currently facing our community,” Hernandez said. “Unfortunately, health care inequity remains a pressing problem that many Hispanics deal with daily. While we are making progress, until this human right is guaranteed, establishing health care equity will remain a priority for me. I look forward to hearing from other leaders in our community about their experiences and thoughts on the future.”

Hernandez will be speaking alongside Dr. Teresa Garate, Senior Vice President at Strategy Partnerships & Engagement Gateway Foundation; Esther Corpuz, President and CEO of Alivio Medical; Elio Montenegro, Senior Director of Development at Roseland Community Hospital; and Jose Sanchez, President and CEO of Humboldt Park Medical Center. The event is free and open for the public to watch online on Youtube and Facebook Live.
