ROCKFORD, Ill. – As part of his efforts to help keep residents employed, state Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, is partnering with The Workforce Connection and other community groups to host a free Hiring Event. The event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall, located at 7070 Cherryvale N. Blvd. in Rockford.
“With many in our community struggling to find employment opportunities over this past year, it is important that we are working to connect residents with employers,” said Vella. “Providing resources to jobseekers is a vital part of ensuring we are keeping as many residents employed as possible. I would like to thank The Workforce Connection for putting this event together and assisting jobseekers in our community.”
At the event, representatives from over twenty different companies with hundreds of available positions will be on-site for attendees to meet and interview with. There will also be employment resources available at the event. Registration is not required. For more information and for a list of employers, please visit The Workforce Connection’s Facebook page at facebook.com/theworkforceconnection.
Since entering the General Assembly earlier this year, Vella has prioritized keeping jobs in his district. Recently, he helped pass legislation that would keep the Byron Nuclear Power Plant from closing, saving thousands of local, high-paying jobs. In addition, Vella introduced legislation that provides middle-school and high-school students with vocational and technical education courses, allowing them to develop skills that will help them find employment.
“When speaking with constituents across my district, one of the issues that they bring up the most is employment security,” said Vella. “A top priority of mine is ensuring that residents have the financial resources they need to make ends meet. I look forward to continuing to work both in Springfield and in the district to bring high-quality jobs to our community.”
