EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – State Rep. LaToya Greenwood, D-East St. Louis, issued the following statement Tuesday following Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s veto of House Bill 3190, a bill aimed at ending the environmentally-damaging practice of burning toxic chemicals known as PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances):

“The health and safety of our community remains my number one priority. That is why I am working with Gov. Pritzker’s office to make sure we get the ban on burning toxic chemicals right the first time to ensure that there are no unintended oversights. I believe that we will be able to find a swift resolution to this matter, and look forward to seeing this proposal implemented in the very near future.”

For more information, please see Pritzker’s veto statement on the matter for more details on how Greenwood and others will fine-tune the bill.
