ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – As Illinois continues to face a surge in COVID-19 cases, state Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, is highlighting National Immunization Awareness Month, encouraging residents to get vaccinated and bringing attention to the new ‘Vax Verify’ online immunization records portal.

“With coronavirus cases soaring in Illinois due to the extremely contagious nature of the delta variant, it is important we stay vigilant in protecting ourselves against the virus by wearing face coverings and getting vaccinated if possible,” said Manley. “The COVID-19 vaccine is a great step residents can take to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.”

Manley is highlighting National Immunization Awareness Month and is encouraging residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The CDC recommends residents over the age of 12 be vaccinated against COVID-19 and encourages families to keep up with well-child visits and get children caught up on recommended vaccines that may have been missed due to the pandemic. Residents can find a vaccine provider by visiting www.vaccines.gov.

Additionally, as more businesses and events are requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccinations, Manley is highlighting the new Vax Verify online portal where residents can confirm their vaccination status. Vax Verify requires residents to go through a brief, one-time verification process to access immunization history and can be found by visiting https://idphportal.illinois.gov.

“As children return to school and the state continues to re-open, now is a great time to prioritize your family’s health by getting vaccinated against COVID-19. Getting vaccinated will help slow the spread of this deadly virus and save lives,” continued Manley. “I encourage residents who are vaccinated to take advantage of the Vax Verify system to easily and conveniently confirm their vaccination status so they do not have to worry about carrying around their vaccination card.”
