CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. – This National Immunization Month, state Rep. Suzanne Ness, D-Crystal Lake, is highlighting the importance of vaccines as students start to head back to school and COVID-19 infection rates are on the rise.
“As we continue to work to end the pandemic and reduce COVID-19 infection rates, receiving your COVID-19 vaccine is the best way to keep you and your loved ones safe,” said Ness. “The COVID-19 vaccine is readily available to individuals aged 12 and up in Illinois, so there is no better time to get the vaccine than now to help slow the spread of this deadly virus.”
Ness is highlighting National Immunization Month, an annual observance held in August to promote the importance of immunizations for people of all ages. To help keep families safe, the CDC recommends everyone over the age of 12 be vaccinated against COVID-19 and encourages families to keep up with their well-child visits and get children caught up on any recommended vaccines that were missed during the pandemic. Individuals can find a vaccine provider by visiting, https://www.vaccines.gov/.
“Now more than ever, we want to make sure all Illinoisans prioritize their health,” said Ness. “Getting your COVID-19 vaccine and ensuring children and teens are up to date on their routine vaccines can help prevent infection and keep our community healthy. I encourage those with questions or concerns about vaccines to speak with a trusted medical professional.”
