GURNEE, Ill. – Working to engage people of all ages in state government, state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, is sponsoring a Create-A-Bill contest for students across her district.
“Laws passed in Springfield have an impact on all people’s lives, and that includes students,” said Mason. “By creating their own bills, students can learn more about how laws are made and the impact they have on all of us.”
Mason is sponsoring a Create-A-Bill contest starting now and going until December 1. Individual students, groups or entire classes can submit their ideas for new legislation to Mason. The winning bill idea will be drafted and filed for consideration by the Illinois General Assembly to be passed into law. The contest winners will also be invited to Springfield to see firsthand how state government works.
To learn more and to enter the contest, please contact Rep. Mason’s office at 847-485-9986 or email Info@RepJoyceMason.com. Bill ideas can be submitted via email or mailed to 6615 Grand Ave. #217, Gurnee, IL 60031 through Dec. 1, 2021.
“As a mom, I know that kids and teenagers often come up with the most creative and compassionate ideas. I want to give them a chance to share those ideas and possibly see them become reality,” said Mason. “This is a chance for students to learn more about their state government and how laws can create real change in our neighborhoods.”
