CHICAGO – To help local families prepare for the college application season, state Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, will co-host a financial aid resources information session on July 26 as part of her Mindful Monday event series.

“Applying for college can be stressful for students and their families, especially when it comes to financing an education,” Hurley said. “Learning more about available financial aid resources and how to apply for them can help reduce stress for families and students, which is the goal of the Mindful Monday event series.”

Hurley is co-hosting the virtual event with state Rep. Kelly Burke, D-Evergreen Park, on Monday, July 26 at  5p.m. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will offer families a presentation on grants, scholarships and loan opportunities for students. ISAC representatives will also be available to offer one-on-one guidance. Interested residents should contact Rep. Hurley’s district office at 773-445-8128 or email repfranhurley@gmail.com for more information and to receive a link to the event.

“Applying for a financial aid package should not be a burden or a barrier on a student’s application process or college experience,” Hurley continued. “I encourage students and families to take the time to learn about available financial aid and how to get the best package to pay for an education.”
