CICERO, Ill. – State Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, D-Cicero, will be partnering with the Cook County Accessor’s office to bring a free property tax appeals seminar to assist residents with lowering their bills.

“Now is a good time to help find ways to lower the growing tax burden on homeowners,” said Hernandez. “By combating the devastating effects of the pandemic and the rising housing costs, we can help families stay in their homes and strengthen the economic development of our communities.”

Hernandez’s property tax appeals seminar will be on Thursday, July 1 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cicero Community Center in room 101, located at 2250 S. 49th Ave. in Cicero. Representatives from the Cook County Accessor’s Office will be available to present information and guides on how residents can lower their property taxes through the appeals process.
“The property tax appeals process is a simple one, and I aim to bring awareness to that fact and help bring guidance to any individual or family who may need assistance,” said Hernandez. “With Cicero’s appeal deadline nearly at hand, I encourage residents to learn about their property tax assessment and how to file an appeal.”
