CHICAGO, Ill. – State Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, recently visited a construction zone in Merrionette Park with Merrionette Park Mayor Jose Nevarez, and Senator Bill Cunningham.

“Unfortunately, Illinois is infamous for aging infrastructure in desperate need of renovation,” said Hurley. “I am happy to see the Illinois Department of Transportation funding these much-needed projects throughout the 35th District and the state. With improved roads and sidewalks, we will see more and more visitors to our state. I am glad for the opportunity to talk with Mayor Nevarez and Senator Cunningham to see just how these improvements will benefit Merrionette Park and surrounding areas.”

The Illinois Department of Transportation is funding the resurfacing of new ADA-Compliant sidewalk ramps on Kedzie Avenue from 87th St. to 103rd St., and 115th St. to 131st St. This project is one of several throughout the State to improve, beautify and modernize Illinois’ roads, sidewalks and walking paths.
