SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado, D-Chicago, released the following statement regarding the end of the Illinois House of Representative’s regularly scheduled spring session:

“The past year has been a trying time for all of us. From social distancing to economic hardships, we have all experienced hardship, but we will see this pandemic through and build back better.

“This spring, I fought to close corporate tax loopholes abused by some of the state’s wealthiest corporations, many of which posted record profits throughout the COVID-19 pandemic after they received billions in state and federal relief funds. By closing corporate loopholes, billion dollar corporations will finally be required to pay their fair share.

“With many families facing eviction or homelessness due to the economic effects of the pandemic, I supported legislation to help them stay in their homes. By pausing foreclosures, expanding access to emergency rental assistance, and providing protections we help provide relief to those who need it most.”
