SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Sue Scherer, D-Decatur issued the following statement after the end of the 2021 Legislative Session:

“Our time in Springfield was focused on passing a budget that protected the critical services the people of Illinois rely on day in and day out. The pandemic created unprecedented challenges for every community in the state. I am proud to support bills that focus on recovery for our small businesses, fortify our education system and expand access to essential healthcare services and protect people as we continue to recover from this global pandemic.”

“Over the past year we have seen how our education system has been impacted by remote learning and the need to give schools the resources to keep students ahead of the curve and down a path toward success. Although many tough decisions were made, the need for key funding for our education system was a top priority of mine as I worked with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to move Illinois forward by creating solutions that work for residents statewide.”

“I am confident the best interest of the people of Illinois was put first this legislative session. I look forward to continuing to address the needs of my constituents and our community. While a lot more work remains to be done, we were able to accomplish many key initiatives to help put our state back on the right path.”
