CHICAGO, Ill. –  Residents will have the opportunity to learn how to pre-register and file for tax appeals at an upcoming seminar hosted by state Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago.

“Too often I heard from constituents about the financial strain property taxes put on their lives,” said Hurley. “I hope this seminar will provide constituents with opportunities to ease that financial burden.”

The Property Tax Informational Seminar will take place virtually on Thursday, May 27th starting at 6 p.m. Cook County District 1 Commissioner, Tammy Wendt, will deliver a presentation on the property tax appeal process and how to Pre-File an appeal online. Tax Analysts will also be available to answer questions. To RSVP for the event, go to TammyWendt.com/Events and a link will be sent. The event is free and open to the public. Wendt asks all attendees to have their 2nd installment property tax bill or property index number (PIN) nearby for the seminar.

“While I am working in Springfield to reduce the property tax burden, I want to make sure that I am helping to connect residents with the resources locally to help them understand their tax bills and explore avenues to reduce their tax burden,” said Hurley.
