CHICAGO, Ill. –  Residents will have the opportunity to learn tips on how to better protect themselves from vehicle hijackings during a self-defense seminar hosted by state Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago.

“It’s important for people to know how to  defend  themselves should they ever face an unfortunate situation,” said Hurley. “My goal with hosting this self-defense seminar is to make sure that any person who might be put in a situation of a car-jacking or robbery knows how to properly protect themselves.”

The self-defense seminar will be taught by City of Chicago K9 Officer, Cheryl Hurley. Hurley will be sharing self-defense tips on how to prevent yourself from a carjacking. The seminar will take place on Monday, May 17 at 6 p.m. at Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences Miracle Field located at 3857 W. 111th St, Chicago. The event is hosted in conjunction with state Rep. Kelly Burke’s office and will be free and open to the public.

“This is an opportunity for residents to learn some easy self-defense tips that will help keep them safe in the future should they experience a threatening situation,” said Hurley. “Everyone should
