ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is promoting the Conference of Women Legislators (COWL) Scholarship, which will help 10 Illinois women cover the cost of college.

“It is more important than ever that prospective students have the support they need to pursue higher education opportunities,” Yingling said. “No one should have to postpone or end their aspirations to go to college because they cannot afford to do so.”

The COWL Scholarship is an undergraduate scholarship that covers tuition and other expenses up to $2,500 for the 2021-2022 academic year. The one-year scholarship is awarded to ten women who are Illinois residents, over the age of 25, and are taking six or more semester hours either in-person or online at an Illinois accredited college or university. Applications are due on May 1, with awardees being notified by June 1. For more information or to apply, please visit the application page at https://cowl.formstack.com/forms/cowl_scholarship_application.

“The benefits that a higher education provides should be available to all, regardless of their age economic status, or other factors,” Yingling said. “Investing in our students is investing in the future of Illinois, and I applaud the Conference of Women Legislators for awarding these important scholarships.”
