CHICAGO – State Rep. Curtis J. Tarver II, D-Chicago, will be cleaning up Chicago’s lakeshore with community members on Saturday, April 24 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Anyone interested in joining Tarver in his efforts to keep Chicago green can stop by 6300 S. Lake Shore Dr. at the beginning of the event for instructions and tools to help with the cleanup.

“Chicago’s lakefront is a key feature of our community, but far too often it gets polluted by the many different residents and visitors of our great city,” said Tarver. “Given the important role that our lakefront plays for our community and the entire state, we need to keep the lakeshore clean of trash and litter that accrues. By working together, we can protect the lakefront’s ecosystem from waste.”

In addition to the cleanup, Tarver will also be hosting engineers to educate attendees on issues facing the lakefront, such as lakeshore erosion. Erosion can displace residents and businesses along the lakeshore, which is why it is extremely important that community members understand what is occurring in their backyard.
