Moylan Invites Residents to Provide Input to Redistricting Committee

DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is committed to ensuring the voices of local residents are heard throughout Illinois’ decennial redistricting process by arranging a virtual public hearing of the House Redistricting Committee for Northwest Cook County on April 7 at 2 p.m.

“Every ten years we are tasked with the responsibility of redrawing the legislative districts throughout our state, and it is vital to collaborate with community members and organizations who will be directly impacted by the Redistricting Committee’s decisions,” Moylan said. “The best information to provide the Redistricting Committee is the thoughts and opinions of the local residents. Who knows the community better than the people who live and work in it?”

The hearing is part of Moylan’s commitment to a transparent and cooperative redistricting process, and is one of 23 scheduled hearings across the state where legislators will receive public input from local residents and organizations. Members of the public are invited to share their thoughts on demographic trends in their community, communities of interest and any other information that will better inform the Redistricting Committee during the process of creating new legislative districts.

Local residents and organizations interested in sharing testimony should contact RedistrictingCommittee@hds.ilga.gov. Please include the date and region of the hearing you wish to attend and a brief summary of the testimony you wish to provide. Those interested in viewing the hearing can do so by going to https://ilga.gov/houseaudvid.asp and selecting Virtual Hearing Room 3 once the hearing begins. Written testimony may also be submitted to the Redistricting Committee at any time by emailing RedistrictingCommittee@hds.ilga.gov.
