COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – To help residents avoid scams and fraud, state Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, is partnering with the Illinois Comptroller’s office to host a virtual Identity Theft Prevention Workshop on Thursday, March 18 at 3:00 p.m. A Zoom link will be provided upon RSVP.
“During the pandemic, we have seen an increase in identity theft scams, with criminals using more creative tactics to gain access to personal information,” said Stuart. “I regularly host these workshops to make sure residents have the knowledge and tools to keep their personal information secure as scams evolve.”
During the workshop, a representative from the Illinois Comptroller’s office will present information on identity theft and prevention, along with tips to safeguard your personal and financial data. Following the presentation, there will be time for questions from the audience. Stuart is requesting that participants pre-register for this event by emailing repkatiestuart@gmail.com.
“Having your identity stolen can be a very scary and stressful experience, but there are steps you can take to prevent it,” said Stuart. “I hope you’ll join us on Thursday to learn more about how to avoid identity theft and protect your personal and financial well-being.”
