SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – To honor local seniors, state Rep. Suzanne Ness, D-Crystal Lake, is calling on residents to nominate their family members, neighbors, or friends for consideration for the 2021 Senior Illinoisan Hall of Fame Award hosted by the Department of Aging.

“The contributions of our seniors have helped our community grow strong,” said Ness. “After a tough year, it is especially important for us to recognize the seniors that go above and beyond for those in our community.”

The Department of Aging is holding the 2021 Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame Award for adults 65 years of age or older. Nominees can be considered for their contributions in community service, education, labor force and performance and graphic arts. As an advocate for older adults, Ness is highlighting this opportunity to recognize the contributions of local seniors. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, June 1, 2021, and can be made online at https://www2.illinois.gov/aging/HallofFame/Pages/default.aspx, by calling the Senior HelpLine at 1-800-252-8966, or by emailing aging.ilsenior@illinois.gov.

“Whether they are a teacher, business owner, or dedicated volunteer, I encourage residents to nominate those that have gone the extra mile during this hard year,” continued Ness. “This is the perfect opportunity to distinguish those seniors that are making a positive impact in our lives.”
