DES PLAINES, Ill. – As Illinois continues the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is commending the decision to open a state supported mass vaccination site in Des Plaines.

“It is vital that the administration of COVID-19 vaccinations reach as many people as possible, especially in the early phases of the plan so that we can protect those who are most vulnerable to the virus,” Moylan said. “While the supply is still limited, we need sites, like this Des Plaines one, so that when the supply increases we are able to administer it to as many residents as possible in an efficient manner.”

The state supported mass vaccination site will be the first site in Illinois to offer the Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine and is expected to handle up to 3,500 shots a day.  The site is located at 1155 E. Oakton St. in Des Plaines. Appointments are required in order to receive a vaccination and can be acquired at or by calling 833-308-1988. The vaccine supply is still very limited so residents may have to wait for an appointment, although an increase in supply from the federal government is expected in the coming weeks. Illinois is currently in Phase 1B of the vaccination plan, which includes frontline essential workers and residents over the age of 65.

“This new site will be a great step forward in ramping up vaccine distribution and will help serve residents throughout Des Plaines and the rest of the northwest suburbs,” Moylan said. “We have to continue the efforts to administer this vaccine to as many residents as possible as quickly as possible so that we can protect Illinois residents and begin to return to normality. This mass vaccination site will certainly accelerate those efforts and I am extremely happy that it is now open and operational.”
