Ness Prioritizes Fiscal Responsibility, Job Creation and Social Services Through Committee Assignments

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Following the Illinois House of Representatives announcement of committee assignments for the 102nd General Assembly, state Rep. Suzanne Ness, D-Crystal Lake, is underscoring her commitment to build a stronger Illinois through fiscal responsibility, creation of new jobs and properly funding social services.

“Illinois’ finances are in dismal state, and have only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a member of the Appropriations-General Services committee, I will have a seat at the table during budget negotiations,” said Ness. “Cuts will need to be made to craft a responsible budget, but as a member of the Human Services committee, I will fight to fund essential services like Meals on Wheels. Our budget cannot be balanced on the backs of our most vulnerable residents, especially during a pandemic.”

Ness will serve on the following House committees: Appropriations-General Services, Counties and Townships, Energy and Environment, Human Services, State Government Administration and Transportation: Regulation, Roads and Bridges.

“I will bring my experience as a McHenry County Board member to the Counties and Townships, State Government Administration and Transportation: Regulation, Roads and Bridges committees to address the immense property tax burden forced upon Illinois homeowners, and call for increased investment in infrastructure to build a high-wage economy,” continued Ness. “My commitment to rebuilding infrastructure, coupled with serving on the Energy and Environment committee will give me the opportunity to advocate capitalizing on renewable resources to create new jobs and protect the environment.

“I will work to ensure our families’ voices are heard in the state Capitol by fighting for accountability and fiscal responsibility, increased investment in infrastructure and creation of new jobs, and funding for services our most vulnerable residents rely upon.”
