CHICAGO – As state and local health departments continue to roll out COVID-19 vaccination plans, state Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is partnering with 21st Ward Alderman Howard Brookins, Jr. and Cook County 4th District Commissioner Stanley Moore for a virtual discussion on the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and the state’s ongoing response to the pandemic.

“Although we finally are at the point where we have multiple effective vaccines, it’s clear that we are not out of the woods yet,” said Slaughter. “It’s critical to our success against this invisible enemy that the people in this community are well-informed about resources that can protect them.”

Slaughter’s webinar will take place on Monday, March 8 at 6 p.m. on Facebook Live. Representatives from the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Cook County Department of Public Health and Chicago Department of Public Health will discuss the different vaccines available to residents, who is currently eligible for vaccination and how getting vaccinated can prevent the spread of COVID-19. In addition, those who tune into the discussion will be invited to ask the panelists any questions they have about COVID-19 response and vaccination. This virtual webinar will be open to the public and live streamed to Slaughter’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/repjustinslaughter.

“This webinar will provide important information on how vaccines work and how residents and their loved ones can register for an appointment to be vaccinated,” continued Slaughter.  “I encourage members of our community to tune in to learn more about the ways to prevent the spread of the virus and how we can each do our part to combat the pandemic and keep ourselves and our families safe.”
