SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – As the 102nd General Assembly is set to resume legislative session in Springfield this month, state Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, has been appointed to a new Illinois House leadership post serving as Women’s Caucus Whip.

“I am honored to have been chosen to serve as Women’s Caucus Whip in the House,” said Conroy. “The cornerstone of much of my professional career has been devoted not only to championing the efforts of women and girls, but also serving the best interests of DuPage County families. I am proud of my record which has consistently delivered on key proposals that empower women from all walks of life, while also prioritizing the needs of the DuPage County community as a whole.”

Conroy was tapped on to serve as Women’s Caucus Whip by newly elected House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, D-Hillsdale, as he announced his leadership team of Democratic House members serving in the recently sworn-in 102nd General Assembly. As a longtime advocate for women’s issues, Conroy co-founded and served as the first Chair of the House Democratic Women’s Caucus.

“I look forward to serving in this new role as someone who recognizes firsthand the critical need for women to have a strong voice at tables where important decisions surrounding the rights of women are made,” said Conroy. “I am truly humbled to have the opportunity to take on the reins and serve as that person, and I remain committed to upholding the highest possible standards for the future of DuPage County.”
