ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – As the Lake County Public Health Department (LCHD) continues its vaccination efforts, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is encouraging residents to assist in the process by volunteering at the vaccination site.

“As we continue distributing the vaccine as quickly as possible, volunteers are needed to assist in the process more than ever,” said Yingling. “I highly encourage all residents, and especially those with medical backgrounds, to help do their part in keeping our communities healthy and safe by volunteering.”

The LCHD is looking for volunteers to help assist with various aspects of the vaccination effort. For those with a medical background, the LCHD is looking for nurses and medical doctors (MDs) to be vaccinators and paramedics and MDs to be medical observers. Those without medical backgrounds are needed for traffic control and to be screeners. Training will be provided and volunteers are asked to give at least eight full days of their time. For additional information or to volunteer, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Shawna Huley at shuley@lakecountyil.gov.

“During my recent tour of the vaccination facility, I was able to see first-hand how important volunteers are to the efficiency of the facility,” said Yingling. “The success of our local vaccination effort will have major consequences on the health of our community, and I hope that residents will answer the call and do their part in helping eradicate this virus.”
