DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, was recently appointed as chairperson of the Transportation: Roads and Bridges Committee for the 102nd Illinois General Assembly and is pledging to continue working to improve the transportation infrastructure throughout the state.

“I am honored to continue serving as chair for this committee and will continue the work begun under the Rebuild Illinois plan to provide long needed improvements to our state’s transportation systems,” Moylan said. “Investment in our infrastructure is an investment in the future of our state. I am proud of the work we started in the previous General Assembly and look forward to working with my colleagues on the work that remains.”

Moylan previously served as the chair of this committee in the 101st General Assembly and will bring years of expertise in transportation issues to his continued tenure in this position. Moylan helped pass the historic Rebuild Illinois capital plan in 2019 which planned to invest $33.2 billion in updating and improving Illinois’s long neglected transportation infrastructure while creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in the process. Moylan plans to continue to support such investments to improve the safety, quality and efficiency of the state’s transportation infrastructure.

“The long overdue modernization of our transportation infrastructure will be a massive job creation tool and stimulate local economies, which is desperately needed in the wake of the COVID-19 economic downturn,” Moylan said. “As chair of this committee I will continue to back investment in our communities and finally give the people of Illinois the safe and reliable transportation infrastructure they deserve.”
