GLENVIEW, Ill. – Advocates for suburban schools are recognizing state Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz, D-Glenview, with the ED-RED ‘Legislator of the Year’ award for her work promoting high-quality education in local public schools.

“I am truly honored to receive this award from ED-RED,” Gong-Gershowitz said. “We share a commitment to the inherent worth of every child and to building an innovative education system that prepares every student for an ever-changing world.”

ED-RED is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for over 80 suburban school districts serving students in kindergarten through high school. ED-RED is honoring Gong-Gershowitz with the ‘Legislator of the Year’ award for her exemplary record fighting for a better and more equitable education system, specifically on the House Primary and Secondary Education Curriculum and Policy committee.

“I am the product of Illinois public schools, and growing up, my father taught at our local community college. I was incredibly lucky to grow up in a household that valued education and with teachers whose dedication launched my lifelong love of learning,” Gong-Gershowitz said. “Public education is the great equalizer in a democracy, but only if all students have access to a quality education. I am committed to funding policies that support children’s success for every student in Illinois. I again thank you for this honor.”
