SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – After taking the oath of office for the 102nd General Assembly on Wednesday, state Rep. Dagmara “Dee” Avelar, D-Bolingbrook, issued the following statement:
“First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the residents of our community who have given me the opportunity to be their voice in Springfield. I am committed to addressing the issues that matter most to our families, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to build back a stronger Illinois.
“As we begin this General Assembly, we must focus on providing relief to those hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. More than ever, it is critical that we ensure access to the resources our community needs most. Expanding access to health care, securing resources for local businesses and providing assistance to both displaced workers and essential employees are necessary steps we must take in order to create a better future for Illinois.
“Tough choices lie ahead of us in order to put Illinois back on track, but I am confident that by working together and continuing our work to provide critical relief to those who need it most, we can help our state recover from the devastating effects of this unprecedented public health crisis.”
