DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is highlighting new dollars directed toward child care providers in the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) and a reduced monthly co-pay cap of $1.25 aimed at assisting families and businesses during the pandemic.

“Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, families across Illinois have faced significant financial hardship, and this initiative will provide some much needed relief for working families during this unprecedented public health emergency,” Moylan said. “We need to continue finding solutions that will help struggling businesses and families. These funds and the reduced co-pays will do just that, and I hope we can continue working to provide relief for residents during these trying times.”

The CCAP provides affordable, high quality child care to low income, working families. Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that the state of Illinois will be directing an additional $20 million from the federal CARES Act to assist child care providers within the CCAP. In addition to the funding for child care providers, families’ monthly co-pays to child care providers within the CCAP will be capped at $1.25 for January and February of 2021, providing direct relief for families in Illinois.

“This multifaceted initiative will greatly help the child care industry, which was among the industries most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and directly assist working families allowing them to continue providing essential services as we continue to battle against COVID-19,” Moylan said. “This effort is a great step to help businesses and families experiencing financial hardship stemming from COVID-19.”
