CHICAGO – State Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, is inviting residents to her first Mental Health Monday event of the new year on Jan. 25.
“Taking care of our mental health and wellbeing is just as important as taking care of our physical health. If you are sick or injured you wouldn’t skip out on going to the doctor, so it is important that we give this same level of priority to our mental health,” said Hurley. “At my upcoming Mental Health Monday we will have a discussion on the potential mental health benefits of having an animal companion and their positive impact on our emotional wellbeing.”
Hurley, a continued advocate for mental health resources, is partnering with Rep. Kelly Burke to host a Mental Health Monday event via Zoom on Jan. 25 at 7 pm. Certified Veterinary Technician Carla Hubbs will be facilitating a conversation on animal companionship and their beneficial relationship to mental and emotional wellbeing. “I look forward to discussing the positive impact having a pet can have on our mental health, especially as we continue to navigate uncertain times,” continued Hurley. “I encourage residents interested in learning more about preserving their mental wellness to join me for my Mental Health Monday event later this month.”
