GURNEE, Ill. – Ahead of the distribution of coronavirus vaccines to the general public, state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, is encouraging residents to register with the Lake County Health Department’s AllVax system. The department created AllVax to allow individuals to register to receive a notification when they become eligible to receive a coronavirus vaccine.

“While we don’t yet have an exact date for when vaccines will become available to the general public, we can take actions now to ensure we’re well-prepared when that time comes,” Mason said. “Distributing these vaccines poses an immense logistical challenge for many health departments, but a program like the AllVax portal can go a long way in eliminating potential slowdowns and ensuring more people are vaccinated sooner.”

The AllVax portal is free and available to all individuals residing in Lake County, including temporary residents. Individuals may complete the AllVax registration form for themselves or on behalf of other people in their households. The portal works by collecting residents’ health and occupational information and then sending them an alert when they become eligible to be vaccinated. For more information or to register, please visit https://allvax.lakecohealth.org/s/?language=en_US.

“I applaud the Lake County Health Department for creating a system that will make sure vaccines are distributed to the general public in our community as quickly and easily as possible,” Mason said. “I strongly urge all local residents to register with the AllVax portal as soon as they are able.”
