CHICAGO – As the Jan. 8, 2021 application deadline approaches for the 2021-2022 school year, state Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, is drawing attention to the GoCPS platform used by Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to enroll students in selective enrollment programs and open enrollment schools.

“CPS schools offer a variety of diverse and rich learning opportunities for students in Chicago. For parents seeking to learn more about their local schools and opportunities outside of their neighborhood school, the GoCPS platform offers a one-stop shop to research and apply for CPS programs and schools,” Lilly said. “As the Jan. 8 application deadline approaches, parents and families should take advantage of downtime during the holiday season to understand the opportunities available to high school, elementary and pre-K students.”

The application deadline for selective enrollment programs and open enrollment schools for CPS is Jan. 8, 2021 and families must use the GoCPS platform. GoCPS features all district-run and charter high schools, all district-run elementary schools and magnet pre-K programs and allows families to apply to schools and programs using one site and application with a uniform deadline. Families can learn about selective enrollment programs and open enrollment programs using the GoCPS platform at go.cps.edu. CPS also offers a phone helpline for GoCPS at 773-553-2060 and answers questions via email at gocps@cps.edu.

“I am committed to ensuring that students all over Illinois have access to high quality public schools in their neighborhood from pre-kindergarten to high school while ensuring that a diverse array of learning programs and options exist for parents and students that need them,” Lilly said. “I highly encourage public school parents in Chicago who are interested in programs offered by selective enrollment schools or open enrollment schools to access the GoCPS platform and apply for their child by Jan. 8.”
