ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is encouraging residents to take advantage of the Illinois Tollway’s program that allows residents to pay unpaid toll violations at a reduced rate until Dec. 30, 2020.

“With the holiday season here, the last thing people need to worry about is having to spend hundreds of dollars to pay off toll violations,” said Yingling. “With only a few more weeks until fees go back to their normal rates, I highly encourage those with toll violations to save money by paying them off before the program expires.”

The Illinois Tollway’s Tolling 2020 reforms are a series of programs designed to help reduce the burden that unpaid tolls can cause. One of these reforms reduces toll violation fees accrued before Mar. 9, 2020 from $20 or $50 to $3. This program includes those sent to collections for toll violations. Residents have until Dec. 30, 2020 to pay at the reduced rates. For more information or to pay the tolls online, please visit the Illinois Tollway’s website at https://www.illinoistollway.com/

“As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause economic hardship for many families, it is important that state government finds ways to reduce the burden on residents,” said Yingling. “The Tolling 2020 program is a good example of how common-sense reforms can make a difference for our residents. As we continue to work through this pandemic, I look forward to finding more ways to help get relief for the middle-class.”
