DES PLAINES, Ill. – To make sure everyone has a safe holiday season, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is encouraging residents to take some time to look at the Illinois Attorney General’s annual safe shopping guide.
“Nobody wants to give a child a gift that has been recalled for safety concerns, but it’s easy for products that were taken off shelves to inadvertently end up sold online by third-party sellers,” Moylan said. “I want to urge all residents to review the safe shopping guide so they can be sure the products they are buying do not pose any potential danger to their families or friends.”
The 2020 Attorney General safe shopping guide is a thorough outline highlighting 34 products that have been recalled by the U.S. Product Safety Commission. The guide describes toys, clothes, furniture and children products that were deemed potentially hazardous for a variety of reasons so that consumers can easily identify and avoid such products. Moylan is strongly encouraging residents to review the safe shopping guide in order to be fully informed of product safety. Residents wishing to access this guide may do so at https://illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/consumers/2020_Safe_Shopping_Guide.pdf.
“As the 2020 holiday season is happening with COVID-19 still prevalent, it is even more important that consumers have access to this safe shopping guide because many consumers are conducting their shopping online,” Moylan said. “This guide is very informative and can help protect your families from hazardous products. I hope residents take a little bit of time to review this guide so that this holiday season can be celebrated safely.”
