LOMBARD – State Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, is urging everyone to review Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s 2020 Safe Shopping Guide before buying toys and games for children this holiday season.

“Every year, the Safe Shopping Guide from the Attorney General’s office helps Illinois consumers avoid buying unsafe gifts,” Costa Howard said. “The toys and other items on the list have been recalled because they violate standards for lead content, choking hazards, or other serious health and safety issues. Although the recalled items on the list are supposed to be removed from store shelves, it’s a good idea to make sure the list doesn’t include any gifts you may have bought early or purchased secondhand.”

The Safe Shopping Guide can be found online at illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/consumers/safe_shopping.html. Residents may contact the Attorney General’s Product Recall Hotline at 888-414-7678 with any questions or concerns.

“This year more than ever, we are all taking extra precautions to stay safe,” Costa Howard said. “It’s easy and convenient to check the Safe Shopping Guide, and you’ll help protect children from harm this holiday season.”
