COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, is highlighting the application opening for the Illinois Conservation Foundation’s (ICF) 2021 Conservation Achievement Scholarship, an opportunity available to high school seniors who have shown a dedication to the conservation of Illinois’ natural resources.
“The Conservation Achievement Scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students who have shown a passion for conservation work,” said Stuart. “This one-time scholarship award will help students pursue their future goals, while recognizing the contributions they have already made to help preserve and protect our wildlife and outdoor resources.”
Four scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded, and one is earmarked for a qualified applicant who is a dependent of a current employee of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The scholarship encourages students to focus their post-high school studies on enhancing and protecting Illinois’ natural resources. Stuart is encouraging high school seniors who are Illinois residents to apply by the March 1 deadline. The scholarship application, along with more information about qualification criteria, can be found at https://ilconservation.org/What-We-Do/Scholarships.
“The Conservation Achievement Scholarship could be a good fit for any senior with an interest in growing career fields like natural resource conservation, outdoor recreation or environmental science,” said Stuart. “I encourage area students to take advantage of this unique opportunity and begin working on their application as soon as possible.”
