DES PLAINES, Ill. – Drivers who still need to pay tollway fines can do so at a reduced rate through a relief program available until Dec. 30 that is being highlighted by state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines.
“As a long-time supporter of keeping tolls affordable, I am strongly in favor of this program and hope as many residents as possible can take advantage of the greatly reduced fines before the end of the year,” Moylan said. “This initiative has already provided relief to thousands of Illinois drivers and I hope many more take advantage of the relief while it is still available.”
TOLLING 2020 is a comprehensive tollway reform package and includes a toll violation relief program providing the opportunity for drivers to pay reduced fees on outstanding toll violations. The relief program reduces all $20 and $50 fines per toll to $3 per toll. Illinois drivers have collectively saved nearly $90 million since the launch of the program in June and can still take advantage of these savings until the program expires on Dec. 30. “As we continue to experience economic hardships brought on by COVID-19, it is important to find ways to save money, and this program has given that opportunity to Illinois drivers,” Moylan said. “Particularly for those who may have accidentally forgotten to pay a toll or didn’t have change at the wrong time, I encourage them to take a few moments to check this program out.”
