DES PLAINES, Ill. – Working to ensure Illinoisans in need of assistance during the COVID-19 crisis have access to critical resources, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, recommends residents contact Applications for Benefits Eligibility (ABE) to learn about all the options available to them.

“During these unprecedented times, residents are in desperate need of assistance in a wide variety of areas,” Moylan said. “People are struggling with their health, financial stability and so much more. We have to make sure that they get the support they need as the battle against COVID-19 continues.”

ABE is an initiative which provides information on a variety of assistance programs offered by the state and informs residents about the programs for which they are eligible. ABE can help residents receive assistance buying food, healthcare, cash assistance, Medicaid, child care assistance, child support services, utility bill assistance, senior services and access other useful support services. Residents wishing to inquire about the programs available to them or apply for these programs can visit the ABE website at https://abe.illinois.gov/abe/access/#program-options or call the Department of Human Services helpline at 800-843-6154.

“With all of the health and economic issues residents are experiencing during this pandemic, they need to know they can rely on the state of Illinois to have their backs,” Moylan said. “I will continue working my hardest to support the residents of Illinois in any way I can and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the General Assembly to continue these efforts.”
