SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – As the deadline for the open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace quickly approaches, state Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg, is encouraging residents who are uninsured or underinsured to sign up for a health care plan.

“The health insurance marketplace offers an easy solution for residents who may have lost their employer-sponsored healthcare coverage due to the pandemic,” said Mussman. “Ensuring you have adequate health care coverage is perhaps more important than ever as our state continues to face the unprecedented COVID-19 health crisis.”

Mussman is encouraging residents in need of health care coverage to take advantage of the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment Period, which ends Dec. 15. A wide variety of health insurance plans with varying premium and deductible costs are available through the marketplace. For additional information or to enroll in a plan, please visit www2.illinois.gov/sites/GetCovered/Pages/default.aspx.

“The ACA marketplace provides affordable options for those without health insurance to get covered and provides a good opportunity for those with insurance to make sure their coverage is right for them,” continued Mussman. “I urge residents who are without health insurance or believe they may be underinsured to check out available options through the ACA marketplace. Taking advantage of the open enrollment period can save you from medical-bill-related financial hardship in the future and can ensure you are prepared in case of an emergency.”

Mussman represents the 56th District, which contains portions of Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Roselle, Rolling Meadows and Palatine.
