GURNEE, Ill. – As the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment period enters its final two weeks, state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, is reminding residents about the upcoming enrollment deadline and encouraging those without health insurance to sign up for a plan.
“If you’ve lost your employer-sponsored health insurance and your Special Enrollment period has passed, purchasing a plan during the Open Enrollment period is an easy way to get covered again,” Mason said. “For those who already have health care coverage through the ACA Marketplace, now is also a good time to review your plan and determine if it’s still the right fit for you.”
The ACA Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment period began on Nov. 1 and ends on Dec. 15. A wide variety of health insurance plans with varying premium and deductible costs are available through the marketplace. “During such an unprecedented public health crisis, making sure you’re enrolled in an appropriate health care plan is more important than ever,” Mason said. “I urge everyone who doesn’t have health insurance or isn’t satisfied with their current plan to review the coverage options available through the ACA Marketplace. Taking action now to enroll in a plan that meets your medical needs is the best way to avoid health-care-related financial stress down the road and make sure you’re well-prepared in case of an emergency.”
