LOMBARD – State Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, is encouraging residents to sign up for healthcare coverage now, to stay ahead of the upcoming Dec. 15 open enrollment deadline for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

“During this pandemic, the need for reliable health insurance is even more pressing,” Costa Howard said. “Enrollment for healthcare plans under the Affordable Care Act is open right now through Dec. 15, and you don’t want to wait until the last minute. So please – go online to HealthCare.gov to begin the enrollment process, or call 800-318-2596 for assistance.”

Enrolling before the Dec. 15 deadline ensures that you will have health insurance coverage starting Jan. 1, 2021.

“With so many people losing their jobs – and their health insurance – during this pandemic, it’s important to start looking at your options as soon as possible,” Costa Howard said. “The HealthCare.gov website has a section devoted entirely to questions about coverage during this pandemic, including information about what to do if you lost your employer-provided coverage. In these stressful times, I encourage everyone who needs health insurance to visit the website and take advantage of all the resources available to help guide you through this important process.”
