CHICAGO – As the holiday season approaches, state Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is partnering with the Maple Morgan Park Food Pantry to host a Thanksgiving food drive for local families facing food insecurity.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on families across Illinois, and many in our own community are still struggling to regain financial stability,” said Slaughter. “As we move toward the holiday season and colder weather, it is important to remember to help those who have been affected by this unprecedented health crisis.”

Slaughter is working with the Maple Morgan Park Food Pantry to collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit families in the Morgan Park community. Donations can be dropped off at Slaughter’s constituent service office located at 1234 W. 95th St. in Chicago, Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. beginning Monday, Nov. 9 and ending on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Maple Morgan Park Food Pantry and help provide essential food items to families in need this holiday season,” said Slaughter. “These are difficult times for all of us, but I encourage those who are able to consider donating to help their neighbors in need.”
