DES PLAINES, Ill. – Reaffirming his continued support of small businesses across Illinois, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is enthusiastic after $46 million of Business Interruption Grants (BIG) were awarded to small businesses in dire need of resources for COVID-19 relief.

“The BIG program provides critical support for businesses that were the most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s important that business owners know how to access and apply for the resources available to them,” Moylan said. “Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and finding ways to support them during these unprecedented times will continue to be one of my highest priorities.”

Moylan is highlighting the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s (DCEO) second round of funding for the BIG program. In this second round of funding, grants totaling $46 million have been distributed to more than 1,200 businesses across 79 counties in Illinois thus far, including 13 businesses within Moylan’s district. Business owners who have been affected by COVID-19 mitigations and stay-at-home orders are encouraged to visit the DCEO’s website at www.illinois.gov/dceo for information on eligibility and how to apply.

“As COVID-19 cases continue to surge in Illinois, we have to acknowledge that this will drastically impact thousands of businesses, and we must be prepared to support them,” Moylan said. “The BIG program will go a long way toward the survival of small businesses throughout the state, and I will continue working to support small business owners during this crisis.”
