CHICAGO – State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, is encouraging residents to take advantage of the extended deadline to recognize local seniors at the 2020 Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame Awards.

“The Senior Hall of Fame gives us the chance to commemorate the positive influence that many older residents have had as staples in their communities,” said Lilly. “During such a difficult time for seniors, this is great opportunity to honor their legacies and achievements.”

Lilly is encouraging area residents and community members to nominate seniors 65 and older for the 2020 Senior Illinoisans Hall Fame Awards. The Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame annually inducts four Illinois seniors who have had a profound impact in education, community service, arts or the labor force. Nominations for 2020 inductees must be submitted by Aug. 31. For more information or to submit a nomination, please visit www2.illinois.gov/aging/HallofFame.

“Seniors mean so much to our communities and deserve to be celebrated for their hard work and for the love and care they give to the places they call home,” said Lilly. “Many of us have older adults in our lives who are family members, friends, and mentors. Nominating these seniors is one more way we can show our appreciation for them.
