DES PLAINES, Ill. – In an effort to provide residents with financial relief amid the COVID-19 pandemic, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, will host a free virtual utility bill clinic with the Citizen’s Utility Board (CUB) on Friday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for residents looking to lower the cost of their monthly utility payments.
“The economic problems brought on by the COVID-19 crisis has many people struggling to afford their monthly bills, and this clinic will show residents how they can save money on a variety of those bills,” Moylan said. “In this economic climate, saving money and protecting your financial well-being has never been so important.”
Residents will be able to register for a virtual one-on-one consultation with a CUB professional concerning their electric, water, gas, phone, cable and internet bills. The session will allow for the CUB professional to identify any unnecessary charges or redundancies as well as recommend energy efficiency and cost saving strategies to residents. Residents should have the most recent copies of their utility bills available for the consultation session. “Residents should not have to worry about losing critical services in the middle of a global pandemic and subsequent economic downturn,” Moylan said. “This clinic will hopefully provide some relief to those who need it and I will continue seeking additional avenues of assistance during these unprecedented times.”
